The 1st draft of my third novel, Hunter’s moon is complete

After a difficult personal year last year, I’ve finally completed the full manuscript for Hunter’s Moon, the third book in the Old Blood Saga. I’m already hard at work on rewrites and hope to have those completed over the next eight weeks. Apologies for taking so long but as some of you know I lost both my mother and brother last year and lost my focus and mojo for writing.

The rewrites are progressing at pace now and with any luck I’ll get the book to my editor sometime in March. I’m also about to start outlining the final two books in the Old Blood Saga, Blood Ties and The Conclave. Once I’ve got the outlines for the last two books in the series completed, I’ll start working on the manuscript for Blood Ties.

This year I’m hoping to do something nearly impossible… complete the first drafts of both of the final two books. I’ve set a really aggressive deadline for myself and am hoping I can make up for lost time. This means we should see Blood Ties published later in 2023 and The Conclave published in early 2024.

My new novel, Hunter’s Moon, the third book in the Old Blood Series is well underway. I’ve had some really great writing days lately and hope to finish the first full draft over the next six weeks. I’ve set myself an ambitious target in order to have a summer release.

After Hunter’s Moon, there are two more books coming in the Old Blood Series, which will bring the total number of Nathan Briggs books in the series to five. If you haven’t yet checked out the first two books in the series, The Weaver and Old Blood, you can find them on Amazon.

Over the holidays I managed to launch my second novel in the Old Blood series, the title book, Old Blood. It was a labor of love to write and I’m now working away on the third book in the series, Hunter’s Moon. Final edits to Old Blood

I’ve finished final major revisions to my second novel, Old Blood. Now I have one last set of edits to do before I ship it off to my Editor to work her magic. I don’t know how everyone else works, but I have my own quirky way of outlining my work before I start. This includes creating a calendar for the book to follow. If there’s one thing I hate it’s discrepancies in the timeline.

Though I follow this when I’m writing, inevitably during edits, my book may get out of sync due to revisions and rewrites, so one of the last things I do is read it cover to cover, make any final edits, and compare it to my timeline to ensure the story timeline is correct.

So, bear with me. I’m looking forward to getting Old Blood out soon.

And one last thing… having finished the detailed outline for my third novel, Hunter’s Moon (book 3 in the Old Blood saga) I’ve begun writing it. I hope to have a first full draft this Winter with rewrites and edits taking me into early Spring ’22. More updates to come!

Just an update on the second book in the OLD BLOOD series, the title book, Old Blood. It’s written! I’m already several revisions / edits into the book and I’m happy to say it’s come along nicely. I always knew that writing was going to be a journey, but I never really expected my writing style to evolve/improve so much from one book to the next.

Don’t get me wrong. I think my first novel in the series, The Weaver, is well written and edited (there are some small editorial errors in it), but writing is like working out muscles… the more you do it, the stronger they get.

While doing my revisions / edits for Old Blood, I’ve also now outlined and starting writing the third book in the OLD BLOOD series, Hunter’s Moon. I’m looking forward to finishing those revisions / edits so that I can put more time into the third book.
